Leadership at the service of the mission
Religious life is a gift of God to the church. The fundamental reason for its existence is the following of Christ and the authority exercised therein is at the service of the Kingdom.
The model of authority as service is Christ. As Son all power was given to Him, by the Father. As Servant, He only did the Will of Him who sent Him. To realize His Father’s plan of love, He emptied Himself, obeyed unto death on the Cross and gave His life in ransom for the multitude. Thus the exercise of authority is a participation in the Paschal Mystery of Christ. (ROL. 36)
